School Holiday Shutdown Works
Boiler house refurbishment and hot and cold water renewal delivered inside the holiday window, with systems operational for the new term.

We deliver a fast, first-class school holiday shutdown service for boiler house refurbishments and hot and cold water refurbishment. The key to it is careful planning, so that school systems are operational for the winter and spring terms with no mechanical downtime.
Whether the building is occupied or empty, we understand the importance of maintaining services while making improvements. The end result is an energy-efficient system the school can rely on, completed on time and within budget.
School Holiday Shutdown Works: what is included
Planned in advance
Surveys, design, procurement and RAMS approval completed before the holiday starts, so work starts on the first day.
Fixed completion
Labour, materials and work areas coordinated to hit the return date. St Claudine's heating distribution was completed in six weeks.
Safeguarding
Enhanced DBS checked engineers, strict segregation from staff and pupils, and deliveries timed to avoid disruption.
Out of hours working
Invasive activities such as asbestos removal carried out out of hours where the school is in use.
Ready for term
Systems flushed, tested, commissioned and demonstrated before the school community returns.
Follow-on phases
Larger schemes split across consecutive holidays, such as plant first and radiators to follow.

How much can be done in one summer holiday?
A substantial amount, with the right planning. Grove Road School's heating and hot and cold water systems were replaced across three buildings during school holidays, and Chase Side Primary School's boiler plant was replaced in five weeks.
When should we start planning?
As early as possible. Surveys, design and plant lead times all need to be complete before the holiday begins.
What if the work is too big for one holiday?
We phase it. At Hadley Wood Primary School the plant room was completed first, with radiator replacement planned to follow.
Do you only work in school holidays?
No. We also work in live schools during term, with work phased and segregated.
