Chase Side Primary School, Boiler Replacement

Overview

Chase Side Primary School is a community school in the London Borough of Enfield. We have completed many contracts for this borough across a wide variety of schools and council buildings. Here we were appointed as principal contractor to carry out the boiler replacement.

Scope of works

We removed the existing hot water plant and associated equipment, including boilers, flues, pumps, redundant controls and heating pipework. We supplied and installed three new boilers on a rig with all accessories and new flues to serve the existing distribution system, adapted pipework to suit the new plant room layout and replaced the distribution pumps.

The works also included modifications to the existing cold mains water services with a new pressurisation unit, gas services, a new drainage system, new power and controls cabling, all associated building works and making good, and the flushing, sterilisation, venting, testing and commissioning of the new heating system.

Delivery

Our main challenge was to complete the works on schedule, with only the summer holiday available before the school community returned. The project commenced on 14 August 2017 and was completed on 15 September 2017. All directly employed staff are DBS checked, and we take the health and safety of employees, subcontractors, teaching staff, pupils and visitors extremely seriously.
