The St Aubyn Centre, Hot Water Plant Replacement
Essential plant replacement and associated mechanical and building works as main contractor at an NHS mental health facility.

Overview
We were appointed as main contractor to deliver essential plant replacement and associated mechanical and building works at The St Aubyn Centre, an NHS mental health facility. Working within a live healthcare environment required careful planning, coordination and a strong focus on health, safety and minimising disruption to the facility.
Scope of works
The works commenced with the safe isolation, strip-out and removal of redundant plant and equipment. We then carried out modifications and preparation works to the existing concrete base, including making good to provide a suitable foundation for the new equipment.
The new installation included a gas-fired water heater and an Ormandy Rycroft solar and electric hot water buffer vessel, together with all necessary associated connections. The works also incorporated integration with the existing Building Management System (BMS) to provide appropriate monitoring and control of the new plant.
Completion
Following completion of the mechanical installation, the hot water system was thoroughly chlorinated in accordance with the required procedures prior to commissioning and handover. The project was completed with all associated builders work, decoration and making good, leaving the plant area clean, functional and professionally finished.
