The Linden Centre, M&E Infrastructure Upgrade

Overview

We were appointed as main contractor to deliver a significant programme of mechanical and electrical infrastructure upgrades at The Linden Centre, working within a fully operational mental health hospital.

Scope of works

The project included the complete strip-out and renewal of three existing plant rooms, alongside the construction of a new external plant room specifically designed to house the new mechanical plant and equipment.

Our works also incorporated major upgrades to the heating manifold and distribution infrastructure throughout the facility, together with the installation of a new Building Management System (BMS) to improve control and monitoring.

We also installed 30 new air conditioning units throughout the facility. Due to the nature of the environment, these installations required specialist anti-ligature solutions, with careful consideration given to positioning, accessibility and patient safety.

Delivery

As main contractor we were responsible for the complete management and coordination of the project, including site welfare, health and safety, site rules, programme management and specialist subcontractors.

Working within a live mental health hospital required particularly stringent safeguarding procedures. Hospital policies and strict working protocols were followed throughout to protect patients, facilities staff, visitors and our engineers.
