La Sainte Union Catholic School, Plant Room Upgrade
Two plant rooms refurbished and joined into one network by new underground pipework, with the school kept fully operational for six months.

Project overview
We were appointed to deliver a comprehensive upgrade of the mechanical plant and associated services at La Sainte Union School, improving system reliability, operational efficiency and long-term performance.
The project involved refurbishment works to two separate plant rooms, one located beneath the main school building and the other adjacent to the tennis courts. A key element of the scheme was the integration of both systems to operate as one coordinated and efficient network.
Scope of works
The works commenced with the full removal and disposal of existing plant equipment within both plant rooms. We then installed new underground pipework to connect the two systems, carrying out all excavation works and completing full reinstatement of the surrounding landscape.
The new installation included thirteen pumps, two low loss headers, two plate heat exchangers, one calorifier and four high-efficiency boilers installed on a cascade arrangement to improve system efficiency and resilience. We also installed new Trend BMS interface panels to provide enhanced monitoring and control of the plant.
Further works included new trace heating, bespoke flue systems and a bespoke fresh air supply system serving the boilers. The systems were fully flushed and chemically dosed, followed by comprehensive testing and commissioning, a full client demonstration and detailed record drawings.
Keeping the school open
To ensure the school remained fully operational throughout the six-month programme, we installed and maintained temporary hot water plant, allowing continuity of service with no disruption to daily operations.
Outcome
The completed project delivered a modernised and fully integrated plant system with improved reliability, enhanced energy efficiency through cascade boiler control and upgraded building management capability. The project was delivered safely, on programme and with minimal disruption within a live school environment.
