Project overview

We were appointed to undertake comprehensive boiler plant room upgrade works at Gunnersbury Catholic School. The project involved the replacement and modification of key mechanical and control systems to improve efficiency, reliability and compliance with current regulations. All works were carefully coordinated to minimise disruption within the live school environment.

Scope of works

The works commenced with modification of the existing gas services to suit the new boiler layout. A new gas safety circuit was installed, incorporating electro-thermal devices and a gas solenoid valve.

We replaced one domestic hot water services generator, including associated valves, pumps and ancillaries. Two gas-fired boilers were replaced along with all associated valves and ancillaries, and two new boiler flues were installed.

The project also included the replacement and installation of heating pumps, pressurisation units, expansion vessels and associated components, and a new plate heat exchanger. A full review of the existing boiler room ventilation was undertaken to confirm adequacy for the proposed installation.

Controls

A new Tridium BMS controls system and control panel were installed. All pipework, valves and ancillaries were thermally insulated and clearly identified in accordance with current standards. Electrical wiring and containment were completed as part of the project, which concluded with full testing and commissioning.
